New Orleans summer festival lineup – a look at our very favorite ones
Greetings from the hottest spot on Earth! And I’m not just referring to the sunny, steamy weather here in New Orleans. I’m talking about the land of spicy seafood served straight from the boiler at our many local festivals. And we’re also talking about all of the great outdoors summer fun you can have at the many New Orleans area festivals in the upcoming months!
Did you know that between June and August, New Orleans and its surrounding areas host nearly a dozen festivals with live music, dancing, crafts and, of course, great food? Much like Mardi Gras in the winter and Jazz Fest in the spring, these summer festivals are unique to our cultural climate. But unlike Mardi Gras or Jazz Fest, these day and weekend-long events are created by — and cater to — the local folks making them authentic celebrations of Louisiana living, and continue to be one of the top reasons people love to travel to New Orleans for business.
Adding value to business travel
Diane B. Lyons, CMP, DMCP President of ACCENT on Arrangements-DMC says that Festivals during a meeting create free entertainment for your meeting in New Orleans. Planners are always looking for the best and most authentic event, well bring a meeting to New Orleans during the Oyster Festival and look out! Your attendees will be talking for years to come about the Oyster Eating Contest!
Check out the Satchmo Strut on Frenchman Street! The Satchmo Fest is now celebrating its 11th year and is thepremier American jazz festival dedicated to the life, music and legacy of New Orleans’ native son, Louis ‘Satchmo’ Armstrong.

For your convenience, we’ve put together a listing of some of our favorite fests in the N’awlins Happenings section of this newsletter.
